What is StopCOVID?
StopCOVID is a free training tool for organizations to educate their frontline workers about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) through cleaning and hygiene best practices. StopCOVID is provided by ESL Works, which offers mobile, work-focused language training for frontline workers across the food industry.
What Coronavirus preparation training do you offer?
All Coronavirus training is based on guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). StopCOVID currently offers training on the following topics:

- Preventing the spread of COVID-19
- Handwashing: How?
- Hand Sanitizers
- Disinfecting Mobile Devices
- Handwashing: When?
- Disinfecting Surfaces
- Wearing a face covering
StopCOVID is actively monitoring CDC and WHO guidelines, and will produce new Coronavirus preparation content as the guidelines change. This ensures frontline workers have up-to-the-minute training.
Who is StopCOVID for?
StopCOVID was created to provide Coronavirus preparation and training resources to frontline workers in the food service, grocery, delivery, retail, and facilities industries. StopCOVID serves organizations of all sizes, from local small businesses to national chains.
How it works
How does StopCOVID training work?
StopCOVID delivers Coronavirus preparation training to frontline workers via text message. It works like this:
- Organizations sign up at stopcovid.co/enroll.
- StopCOVID sends unique activation codes to the organization, which they distribute to their individual employees.
- Individuals enroll in the training by texting their activation code to a provided phone number using SMS or WhatsApp.
- Once an individual is enrolled, they are prompted to select their language and start training immediately.
- Individuals receive automated training drills via text message every day until they have completed all eight StopCOVID drills. Each drill takes only 5 minutes to complete.
- Organizations receive daily progress reports on their team. These reports are delivered via email every day.
What is an activation code?
An activation code is a unique ID number that is generated for your organization. StopCOVID can generate multiple activation codes for your organization, which will enable you to report on different groups of workers.
What is a drill?
StopCOVID training contains eight drills in total. Each drill takes 5 minutes to complete and contains three parts:
- Part 1: A self-assessment gives individuals a chance to reflect on their existing knowledge on the drill topic.
- Part 2: A question and answer series builds an individual's knowledge on the drill topic quickly and deliberately. Each question is auto-graded and is followed by an explanation or fact for each answer.
- Part 3: A confirmation lets the individual know the drill has been completed and the results have been recorded for their manager to view.
When does StopCOVID training occur?
Your organization can choose when to send out activation codes to individual employees. Once activation codes are shared with employees, the individuals and their managers can choose when to initiate the first drill. Subsequent training drills are automated and sent out on a predetermined schedule.
What type of reporting is provided to organizations?
StopCOVID sends organizations reporting on total number of enrolled individuals, training completion rate by drill, and completion rate by group if you created groups. We also send a full .XLS spreadsheet of your daily data so that your team can conduct more robust analysis as desired. All reporting is delivered daily via email to the account holder.
How can my organization sign up for StopCOVID training?
Organizations that wish to enroll fewer than 1,000 individual employees can sign up at stopcovid.co/enroll. You will be asked to answer a few basic questions about your organization to get started. You can provide optional group names if you’d like to receive reporting based on location, team, etc.
Organizations that wish to enroll 1,000 individual employees or more should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
How much does StopCOVID training cost?
Currently, StopCOVID is free for individuals and organizations in response to the COVID-19 crisis. We are grateful to Twilio, Gunderson, and Datadog for partnering with us on this initiative.
How much do additional cycles of Coronavirus training cost? What if I want an individual to go through training again?
The first cycle of training per individual is provided at no cost. We are happy to support your organization with additional cycles, however repeat cycles will likely be provided at a cost. Please email email@example.com for more information.
Do you offer a demo of the StopCOVID training?

Can my team do the training via email instead of text?
No. At this time, the training is only offered via SMS and WhatsApp.
Can individuals 'opt out' of the training once they have started?
Yes, individuals can opt out of training at any time. Reply STOP to opt out.
Are you developing custom Coronavirus preparation content for individual organizations?
We are currently focusing on content specific to COVID-19 preparedness for all essential workers, and are not customizing content to individual organizations.

What languages do you offer?
StopCOVID currently provides training in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Chinese (simplified). All accounts will accommodate multiple languages by default, and individuals will choose their language upon enrollment.
While we do not have immediate plans to add more languages at this time, we are happy to consider special requests for large organizations.
What countries do you provide service in?
At this time, StopCOVID is focused on supporting U.S. organizations domestically due to technical and resource constraints. Large international organizations may inquire directly via email at email@example.com.
